Kennel Assistant

Kennel assistants support the rest of the veterinary team with looking after our patients. This involves walking the dogs, ensuring all the patients have clean kennels, and assisting the vets and nurse with the care of the patients.

As a kennel assistant you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the hospital. You will also clean, sterilise and pack surgical instruments, manage the laundry and ensure a high standard of cleanliness throughout.

You will also assist in preparing patients for surgical and medical procedures, and assist with restraining patients for various procedures.

The role comes with 6 weeks holiday pro rata.

The working week is divided up into shifts over 4 or 5 days, and we are supported by twilight and night teams meaning there is no regular night work. All kennel assistants are expected to work 1 or 2 bank holidays each year.

The ideal applicant would hold a full, clean driving licence, although a vehicle is not required.

Previous experience with working with animals and/or veterinary experience is preferred but not required.

The role is a busy and varied one, and requires someone who has excellent organisational skills, initiative and is able to work well within a team.
